Beth Makes the “Forty Under 40” List!

Posted by    |   January 18th, 2011   |   No responses

The Boulder County Business Report released today the names of the 2011 Forty Under 40 honorees, and I'm proud to say that my business partner and co-owner of Insight Designs, Beth Krodel, deservingly made the list. I won't say how old Beth is, but suffice it to say this was her last chance. Here's what BCBR publisher Christopher Wood had to say: "We were very impressed by the quality of the nominations and the caliber of the individuals nominated. The Boulder Valley is very fortunate to have these dynamic young professionals poised to assume leadership roles - and many who have already done so." Read the full article and see the complete list here. Woo-hoo!

Live photos from our 2009 Holiday Open House

We do this every year and each time we try to come up with a new twist on automated photo uploading technology to deliver images in real time. We are shooting these images with a Canon 5D, which is transmitting images over FTP to my laptop in my office with a Canon WFT-E1 wireless transmitter. The files are stored in a folder on my HD, and this nifty little Python app called uploader.py checks the folder every minute and uploads files to our Flickr account. This year we've also found a nifty site called Flickr Slide Show that will take images from your Flickr account and turn them into a Flash photo gallery. It uses a GoPro HD Helmet Hero camera and an Eye-Fi card: [iframe http://www.flickr.com/slideShow/index.gne?user_id=21695789@N08&tags=Java 600 500] Or if you'd prefer you can view these images directly on Flickr here. Vampire Rides

Kris Thompson, who happens to work for one of our clients Home & Abroad, is a cycling fanatic who faithfully maintains a Boulder area bicycling blog 303cycling.com. Kris recently joined me on one of my early morning training rides and wrote a fun story about his experience. If anyone is interested in what I do before coming into the office here at Insight Designs, check out his "Vampire Rides" story on 303cycling.com.

Support Clean Cycling!

Posted by    |   September 24th, 2008   |   No responses

Today we launched a cool e-commerce application for one of our clients -- the Garmin-Chipotle Professional Cycling Team. Being a bike racer myself makes it particularly interesting for me to work on their projects. And this one has had quite a successful opening day. They've raised over $4,000 for their pro team, their under 23 team, and their junior development program in just a few hours, with their "Clean Bottles for a Clean Sport" initiative. The website is a single page shopping experience designed to make purchasing a bottle, and supporting the team, super easy. Insight Designs came up with the "Clean Bottles for a Clean Sport" slogan, and programmed the single page shopping cart. Check it out, and if you want to support America's coolest cycling team, buy a bottle or two!
